Meet Melissa
🦬 I’m originally from Buffalo, New York. (famous for winter weather, nearby Niagara Falls, chicken wings, & American football - Go Bills!)
🇨🇱 I currently live in Columbus, Ohio with my Chilean husband. (Chi Chi Chi Le Le Le - Viva Chile )
💃 I love dancing, skiing, and watching movies.
🇯🇵 I fell in love with teaching English in Japan over 20 years ago and haven’t stopped teaching since.
❤️ I’m passionate about helping my students develop the knowledge and English skills needed to be successful.
WHY STUDY ENGLISH WITH ME
Two months after graduating from college with a degree in Chemistry, I was on a plane to Japan. While my friends were applying to graduate and medical school, I decided to teach English. I had never taught before, and I didn't know a word of Japanese. (Nihongo ga sukoshi wakarimasu.)
Like you, I had to adapt to a new country, new job, different culture, and a new language. I had to actively learn the language and embrace the chance to grow personally and professionally.
Now, 25 years later, I have a master's degree in education and have also taught in Malaysia and Chile (Hablo español bastante bien.) More recently, I taught English in New York City, my hometown of Buffalo, and Columbus, Ohio where I currently live.
I've been lucky to teach students from all over the world. I hope my students learned as much from me as I have from them.
